Title: Where They Grow
House: Ravenclaw
Word count: 100
Characters: Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones
A/N: This takes place before the students learn about Thestrals.
The deathcaps that Professor Sprout had sent them to collect grew particularly well in the loamy soil between Hagrid's hut and the Forbidden Forest, thought Hannah. "There's lots over here, Susan."
"Good," said Susan as she walked over, collection basket swinging. "I haven't found any yet."
"There's a bunch by that rock."
"Where? I don't see them."
"For heaven's sake." Hannah reached over to pluck the mushrooms, then grimaced. "Oh, UGH! I guess those invisible horses which pull our carriages have invisible poop, too."
Susan smiled faintly. Apparently Hannah didn't see Thestrals.
Hannah giggled. "Good thing they can't fly, huh?"

Some time ago I wrote a story called Turnabout is Foreplay which is a HP/SS PWP wherein Snape makes an invisibility potion, ingests it, then sneaks up to Harry's room. At one point he wonders whether his semen will be invisible as well.
So I thought: hmm, if Thestrals are invisible to most people, is their dung invisible to them as well?
And then I thought: hee, wouldn't it be funny to write about someone getting splattered by invisible flying-horse dung!
And somehow that morphed into this.
